A walk in the Rila Mountain is considered the number one summer activity. Walking in the mountain will take you through century-old pine forests, passing flower-covered green meadows and across small picturesque streams. Visitors will find plenty of places to picnic while admiring the wonderful view. The hiking lovers can enjoy a variety of well sign-posted trails with different level of difficulty.

You can try climbing the highest mountain peak on the Balkans – Musala – there is an easy to follow trekking route. Bikes for rent are a suitable option for the keen bikers.
The more adventurous visitors of Borovets can try paragliding up in the mountains close to the Rila Lakes, a place astonishingly beautiful to see.

Malyovitsa peak is another option for the extreme sports lovers. Malyovitsa is just 20 km away from Borovets and it offers rock climbing. Malyovitsa has one of the most difficult climbing routes in Bulgaria. The Alpine & Mountaineering School of Malyovitsa is fully equipped, including an indoor artificial climbing wall. The instructors are expert climbers and most of them are lecturers at the National Sports Academy.

If you fancy a day of luxury in a natural spa resort, then visit the town of Sapareva Banya, host to Europe’s hottest mineral water and the only active geyser on the Balkans. You can also visit Belchin Banya and Dolna Banya, just 15-20 km from Borovets. These two resorts are famous for their healing waters.

Golf lovers will find the highly regarded Ihtiman Golf Course within 20 minutes drive. Ihtiman Golf Course provides activities even for those who do not play golf. One can entertain themselves at the swimming pool, football field, tennis courts, basketball and volleyball pitches, or at the horse riding manege.

Iskar Lake is a few minutes drive from Borovets. It provides good boating and fishing facilities. One can have a few hours of sunbathing in the mountains as well as go swimming.
